Studio News
It’s been a while! Let’s catch up!
Spring in my studio was busy with my newest oil collection launching and my roses in my garden showing off! My collection featured roses from our 2023 trip to Oxford, and a few from my own collection of heirloom English roses. It was a truly special undertaking and it grew my confidence and skill in capturing my favorite flowers in oil. I am already planning to revisit this subject in the very near future.
This Spring also brought more opportunities to host workshops and teach. One of my favorite opportunities came by way of a dear friend inviting me to partner with her and the University of Mobiles girls soccer team for a bible study. We spent the year going through a beautiful devotional over the 23rd psalm, we painted lush watercolor pastures, flowing streams and still waters. We concluded our study with a collection of botanical paintings of plants from the pastures and a living hedge. I will cherish that timed getting to watch the girls confidence grow in their Fatih and their artistic skills!
Early in May I had the honor of hosting painting event with a non-profit very dear to my heart, One More Moment. We gathered in a beautiful space and painted our birth month flowers. It was a truly special night and I love having a chance to use my art and resources to benefit such a wonderful cause.
June met me with the opportunity to do one of my favorite things, sit in the sand and paint the Gulf! I also got the awesome opportunity to be the craft lady at our churches VBS, and let me tell you, we had a ball!
During this season I have also been painting away at my Summer Blues collection, inspired by my new found success at growing tomatoes in this cray south Alabama heat. This is the first time i’ve ever offered a collection in a gallery, and I’m so excited for this opportunity. Locals can shop my newest collection at Hello September in Daphne AL!
Now that summer is in full force down here, and the heat is set on high, I’ll be finding myself spending more time in my studio. I’ve begun several new things I am very excited to share with you all in the near future!
Have a cool summer ;)
Lauren
